Royal Enfield Books publisher Gordon May is about to embark on his longest ride to date: "UK to South Africa via Nordkapp, Norway", on a Royal Enfield 500cc Twin, first registered in Scotland in 1952, a model which he describes as "the smoothest parallel twin of its era... a simple 1950's British push-rod twin that's happy to cruise all day long at 50mph".
The UK Launch of the new RE Bullet Trials Model will take place in Redditch on Saturday 1st June. The Mid-Shires REOC Branch is meeting for breakfast at Hatton Locks Cafe near Warwick at 8.30am, and welcomes other RE riders for the 15 mile burble through leafy Warwickshire to attend this special event.
The grandfather of the owner of the cafe was a former RE Redditch works Manager, and lifelong friend of Ivor Mutton, so you are assured a warm welcome if you arrive on an Enfield !

Dick Barton, one of the original Lister Engineers, has passed away.
Part of a very tight-knit and successful racing team, Dick Barton became a very close friend and right hand man of Brian Lister over the years. Together they went on to produce some of the finest British sports racing cars of the 1950s.
Archie Scott-Brown was a regular visitor to Haywards Girton Garage, being the 'next garage up' from their Headquarters on the A604 (now A14) at Lolworth.
