Carburettor (pre-2008): Military | Classic | Electra X | Trail Bike | Cafe Racers | TT 500 Roadster | Sixty-5
The Indian Bullet as we know it today started life in the nineteen fifties as a Military machine. The civilian variant, produced mainly for the Indian home market, proved so successful that it remained largely unaltered for almost five decades. In export markets, it rapidly acquired the label of the Classic.
Watsonian Squire Ltd were appointed as UK distributor in 1998 and produced the first UK built limited edition 'T' range Trail Bike and Clubman Cafe Racer.
Haywards of Cambridge then developed the TT500 Roadster, an options-based dealer special offering a range of styling and performance upgrades to individual customer requirements.
In 2002, under Watsonian Squire's guidance, the Sixty-5 was produced exclusively for the UK market, sporting a new five speed gearbox, electric starting and metallic paint.
The Electra X was launched in the UK in 2004 and featured a host of technical changes, including an Austrian designed lean-burn ("AVL") engine and long awaited disc front brake. The standard Electra X was followed in November 2005 by the third series of Watsonian Squire limited edition Trail Bikes and Cafe Racers.
The traditional Bullet was phased out at the end of 2008 and replaced by new Fuel Injected Models ("EFI") with unit construction engines.
In 2013, Watsonian Squire relinquished the Royal Enfield distributorship to Moto GB, enabling them to concentrate on their historic core business of sidecar manufacturing.
