This page is maintained by Mike 'Charlie' Platten of the Royal Enfield Owners Club (Cambridge and Fens Branch).
Ron Wedd is a long term member of the REOC Fens and Cambridgeshire Branch and attends most of the committee meetings and rideouts organised by the branch. He’s typical of the committed members – always ready to give advice and to help out with members’ queries.
Ron’s latest project is a faired Turbo Twin 250, probably a special police requisition including an inset recess in the petrol tank for radio phone. You can see this in one of the pictures. He is using his fettling skills to upgrade the front brake, improve the stand using a Bullet centre stand and to get the bike into top condition for touring with ex police panniers. This bike complements the Bullet 65, EFI and 1995 Bullet 500 that Ron owns among other classic bikes.
Ron first became interested in the Royal Enfield marque after a visit to the NEC in the late 90s after which he acquired an Indian model from a local contact.
This a typical project by one of the Fens and Cambridgeshire members – details of others in future editions of this web page. If you would like to join us at a future meeting, here are the details you need:
Cambridgeshire and Fens meetings every third Tuesday at the Dun Cow, Christchurch PE14 9PG or Saturday weekly breakfast meeting 11 am at Haywards Garage CB3 0LQ.
